A delegation comprising representatives from the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, accompanied by the President of the Khorgos Chamber of Commerce, China, visited APRIN Railway Terminal and APRIN Dry Port as part of ongoing initiatives to strengthen logistics cooperation. During the visit, the parties explored rail and transit capabilities and discussed opportunities to increase the role of rail freight in bilateral trade between Iran and China.
The visit, held on Wednesday, August 5, was attended by Mr. Joe Zhang, President of the Khorgos Chamber of Commerce in China, Mr. Adibi, Representative of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce in Khorgos, along with Mr. Voldi, Director General of Tehran Railway, and Dr. Seyed Alireza Seyedvakili, Secretary of the Association.
According to a report by TIN News based on the Public Relations Department of the Association of Railway Transport and Related Services Companies, APRIN Dry Port, positioned as an Integrated Logistics Hub in Islamshahr, plays a strategic role within Iran’s logistics network. With an area of more than 700 hectares, APRIN provides a dedicated platform for integrating rail transportation, cargo handling, customs services, and logistics operations.
Recognized as Iran’s first customs-based Dry Port, APRIN is connected through direct rail services to Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas, enabling efficient cargo movement between Iran’s industrial centers and international markets. With its 35-hectare container terminal and advanced container handling infrastructure, APRIN provides strategic capacity to support international cargo flows and strengthen rail-based trade connectivity.
During the visit, Mr. Joe Zhang expressed his appreciation for the infrastructure developed at APRIN and highlighted the significant potential of the railway terminal and Dry Port for train operations, cargo handling, and scheduled rail services. He emphasized that, considering APRIN’s container yard capacity and integrated logistics infrastructure, there is considerable potential to expand rail freight flows from China to APRIN.
During the visit, Mr. Voldi, Director General of Tehran Railway, outlined future operational development plans for the terminal and announced the railway’s readiness to increase scheduled freight train services in response to growing international cargo demand.
Dr. Seyedvakili, Secretary of the Association, also highlighted the expertise and capabilities of Iranian freight forwarders and emphasized the important role of the private sector in facilitating international transportation and increasing rail’s share in transit cargo movements.
Following the visit, the delegation reviewed APRIN Dry Port’s operational capabilities and announced plans to visit Incheh Borun Railway Station after returning from Khorgos to explore further opportunities for cooperation along cross-border rail routes. The continuation of these visits reflects the commitment of both sides to developing practical rail logistics projects and strengthening Iran–China trade connectivity.
