Ali Kazemi Manesh, Director General of Tehran Railways, described the inauguration of the Tehran Rail Dry Port at the APRIN Logistics Center as one of the most significant achievements in Iran’s rail transportation sector.
According to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development News Portal, Kazemi Manesh highlighted several major rail infrastructure projects completed in Tehran Province, noting that the opening of the Tehran Rail Dry Port at APRIN represents a key milestone in the development of the country's logistics and freight transportation network.
He also pointed to the construction and inauguration of the Great Prophet (PBUH) Bridge in Varamin as another major accomplishment completed during the previous eight months.
Kazemi Manesh added that a new 9-kilometer railway tunnel in Tehran’s Districts 17 and 18 is scheduled to become operational in the coming months.
According to Tehran Railways, preparations are also underway for relocating the railway baggage terminal from its current location adjacent to Tehran Railway Station to Shahid Rajaei Street, while plans for establishing a dedicated Railway Museum are also progressing.
The first phase of the Tehran Rail Dry Port covers approximately 55 hectares and is strategically located at the intersection of the international East–West and North–South rail corridors, approximately 20 kilometers southwest of Tehran near the city of Eslamshahr.
As part of its strategy to expand rail transportation and develop modern logistics centers, the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) accelerated the construction of the Tehran Rail Dry Port project, particularly from March 2022 onward.
The first phase of the project was developed through an investment of approximately 1,000 billion tomans by the private sector and includes the country's largest inland container terminal and logistics yard.
Key infrastructure developed within the project includes a customs facility, a rail operations management building, and a dedicated loading and unloading area for Iran Khodro steel sheet cargo.

As the largest rail-based import and export hub in central Iran, the Tehran Rail Dry Port was officially inaugurated on March 6 in the presence of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development and the CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways.
Earlier, Seyed Miad Salehi, CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, described the development of the Tehran Rail Dry Port in APRIN, Eslamshahr as a major breakthrough in international rail freight transportation and a significant step toward strengthening Iran’s position within regional and global logistics corridors.
