Chinese Deputy Ambassador: The Launch of a Round-Trip Freight Rail Service Between Iran and China

Lihua Fu, Deputy Ambassador of China to Iran, stated that the launch of the Iran–China Round-Trip Freight Train Service will serve as a new channel for expanding cooperation between Tehran and Beijing while strengthening trade, industrial, and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Speaking to IRNA News Agency, Fu emphasized that the economies of Iran and China are highly complementary and noted that the presidents of both countries have repeatedly highlighted the importance of deepening bilateral economic cooperation.

She pointed out that Iran and China have been connected for nearly 2,000 years through the historic Silk Road, facilitating trade and economic exchanges between the two civilizations. In recent years, cooperation between Tehran and Beijing under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has produced valuable and tangible results.

According to the Deputy Ambassador, the inauguration of the Iran–China Round-Trip Freight Train Service represents another significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to enhance strategic cooperation between the two countries.

Fu also referred to the successful conclusion of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, highlighting that one of its key outcomes was the continued commitment to openness and international cooperation. She noted that this policy direction will create new opportunities for strengthening China–Iran relations and expanding the exchange of goods and services between the two nations.

According to IRNA, the Iran–China Round-Trip Freight Train Service was officially launched during a ceremony attended by the CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI), the Ambassador of Kazakhstan, and the Chargé d’Affaires of Turkmenistan.

The event was held at Aprin Dry Port, where the first phase of the China–Iran–Europe Rail Corridor was also officially inaugurated, marking an important milestone in regional connectivity and international rail freight transportation.

The new rail service is expected to strengthen logistics cooperation between East Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Europe while providing a faster and more efficient alternative for international cargo transportation.
