Seyed Ehsan Khandouzi, Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, visited Aprin Dry Port in Eslamshahr during an official trip to the region, in coordination with Mojtaba Shariyan, representative of the constituencies of Eslamshahr, Ray, Tehran, Shemiranat, and Pardis. During the visit, he was briefed on the progress of construction of Iran’s first dry port.
The Minister inspected various sections of the Aprin railway station and the dry port special logistics zone, reviewing existing challenges and obstacles related to the development of the country’s largest dry port. It was decided that railway authorities would accelerate the completion of necessary infrastructure and customs facilities required for full operation.
During his remarks, Khandouzi stated that although the Aprin Dry Port project has very high potential, its implementation has faced significant delays and that many legal and procedural requirements should have been completed earlier.
He emphasized that the government is strongly committed to prioritizing projects that contribute to reducing regional underdevelopment, adding that the Aprin Dry Port will play a strategic role in Iran’s economic processes, particularly in the transportation and logistics sector. He described its construction and operation as essential and vital.
The Minister further noted that due to an upcoming government delegation visit to Eslamshahr, officials had the opportunity to directly assess challenges and issues on-site.
The visit was attended by senior officials from the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, national customs authorities, the Governor of Eslamshahr, and other provincial representatives accompanying the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance.
Aprin Dry Port, established under a cooperation agreement between the Head of Iran Customs Administration and the CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways in March 2020, is being developed on a site covering approximately 1,000 hectares. Once fully operational, it is expected to handle and deliver more than 60 percent of Iran’s inbound cargo directly to consignees.
